How to host your dream wedding at Babington House
Let our home in the English countryside create your vision of the special day, exactly how you want it
Tuesday 30 May 2023 By Soho House
Wedding plans have commenced and you want a unique venue that has you written all over it (not literally, but we could try). Enter Babington House, our Grade II-listed manor for a party-perfect 18 acres of English countryside available to be exclusively taken over by you; think your House, your day and all your way.
As your home away from home, the big day can be adapted and personalised to your vision; we’ve seen Christmas light projections on the walls of the building and the Orangery turned into a Las Vegas-themed evening. Our handpicked directory of suppliers will help design your wedding, so it’s individual and exactly what you want it to be.
Set yourself up in a luxury suite, enjoy seasonal food made onsite and calm any pre-wedding nerves in our original Cowshed spa, booked out for you and your party only. Rest assured, this is a space where you can relax and comfortably get ready, without having to leave the premises.
Previous weddings include that of Jade and Emma Shone-Sanders, Lauren Crispen, and Tish Jones – the daughter of Soho House’s Founder, Nick Jones. The venue has seen a wide and wonderful array of couples marry here, and you could be next.
Here is a potential itinerary for your dream country wedding at Babington House.
The day before
On arrival, you’ll need to book into your bridal suite with rural views for a calm start to your experience.
Now that you’ve settled in, you’ll probably want some pre-wedding downtime with your friends. You may choose to have afternoon tea with your nearest and dearest. Alternatively, or additionally, you can book out the entire Cowshed spa, including beauty treatments from manicures and pedicures to facials and more, ensuring you’re as fresh as possible for the next day.
‘The House itself has that old country house aesthetic, which is really special. But at the same time, you feel instantly relaxed and at home there from the moment you arrive. We loved taking over the whole place, so it felt like ours for a few days, filled with all of our closest friends and family’

Your wedding morning
The big day is here and it’s all yours to enjoy. Have a leisurely breakfast in your room, then get ready – perfect for those pre-wedding build-up photographs.
Among this, the entire House will be exclusively yours from 3pm on your wedding day. You will also have sole use of the Orangery, so that you can enjoy breakfast with your guests the following morning.
‘Babington is such a magical place made even more special by the incredible staff. The team went above and beyond on our special day’
Your wedding ceremony
It goes without saying that one of the most memorable moments in your life must be exactly how you imagine. With this in mind, we have a selection of spaces where you can host your ceremony, with the choice of the Chapel, the Orangery, the Library or the croquet lawn. Each area has a unique, rustic English charm – ideal for pictures and making an entrance.
‘It’s just the most beautiful place – we knew we wanted to get married outside and under a flower arch, and we just fell in love with the gardens and grounds at Babington. It’s the perfect setting for a wedding’
Jade and Emma Shone-Sanders
Now the fun – and food – begins. You can expect a Champagne reception with canapes for your guests to enjoy while you have photos in the grounds. This can be followed by a seasonal dinner, all created with produce from our Walled Garden. Enjoy the rest of the evening in the Orangery, which features floor to ceiling windows overlooking the grounds. We also have our own in-house florist who can provide you with expert advice to create the look you want.
‘The wedding was beyond magical and every bit was just incredible. And we had an amazing roaming band that came in after the speeches, which was a surprise, called The Juke Joints’
Now the real fun begins. It’s time to dance the night away. And the beauty of being entirely surrounded by fields is that the celebrations can go on for as long as you wish.
‘After dinner, I changed into my party dress, while our guests helped themselves to personalised Espresso Martinis created by the drinks maestro, Fish. Our band absolutely crushed the party and we all danced the night away’
End of the night
While the end of the night is just that for most, we all know there are some ‘fun friends’ who aren’t quite ready to quit yet. If you have a few in your social circle, then we suggest you encourage them to book room six – you’ll know it as the one with the hot tub.
And for the newlyweds? They will be staying in the Playroom, with a large four poster bed, freestanding bath, stocked bar and beautiful views of the grounds where they can enjoy some anticipated alone time (or simply crash out).
‘It’s well worth putting your most fun-loving friend in room five (the one with the hot tub on the roof, which makes for the perfect afterparty)’
Jade and Emma Shone-Sanders
The morning after
Before you ask, breakfast is included; refresh yourself with a hearty spread, some rejuvenating juices and much-needed coffee. If you’re up to it, you can head to the gym and spa for the sauna and steam room. Or maybe you want to sweat off the night before with a workout. And, of course, you can revisit the Cowshed spa – hello, massage.
‘It really feels like a home away from home for us’
The day after
The R&R may be over, but why not make the most of the House’s activities and enjoy some clay pigeon shooting, archery and outdoor tennis. If that feels a little unmanageable, you can engage in something a touch less taxing, such as a walk around our 18 acres of British countryside or an old movie in our comfy screening room, including children’s films for the little ones, too.
‘I have been going [to Babington House] since as long as I can remember and have so many happy family memories there. It has a very special place in my heart’
